Philippa Berry is a freelance musician and arts education professional. She graduated from Middlesex University with a degree in Performance Arts and worked in a variety of arts settings before going freelance in 2007.
Philippa began leading Bletchingley Community Choir in January 2012. She is a member of the Natural Voice Practitioners’ Network, www.naturalvoice.net, which is a network for singing leaders who are leading community singing workshops and choirs. The focus is on community singing accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds, so there are no auditions for new members, and singers do not need to read music but instead learn by ear.
Biography
Her singing leading experience includes co-leading the Phoenix High School choir (2002 – 2004) and running singing sessions for young people through Wokingham Youth Service (2008 – 2010). With an interest in the links between music and health and wellbeing, she has worked on music projects for Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Mental Health NHS Trust, and she received funding in 2012 to attend a ‘Music in Health Settings’ training course run by Musique et Santé in Paris.
