Mississauga Chamber Singers present dynamic performances with high levels of musicianship and artistic expression within a widening scope of the classical choral repertoire.
The Mississauga Chamber Singers performs a diverse season of extensive community engagement events, multi-generational musical education programming and ticketed concerts in a wide variety of performance spaces.
Led by Artistic Director, Mervin William Fick, Mississauga Chamber Singers perform classical choral repertoire, from a wide range of A Capella works to timeless works for choir and orchestra.
2009 - Engaged Artistic Director, Mervin Fick, bringing fresh vision inspiring renewal and artistic growth with the transition from a large (80 voice) oratorio society to a chamber choir of 35-40 auditioned singers.
2010 – Launched the ‘Gallery of Song’ in-school presentations, introducing grade 3-5 students to live interactive presentations
2017 - Expanded commitment to Seniors' programming beyond 2 ‘Seasonal Performances’ with introduction of the ‘Canada Is’ presentation, including narrative and music celebrating Canada
2019 – Travelled to Ontario's Norfolk County, presenting 4 ‘Gallery of Song’ sessions and performing with local community choir
2019 – Introduced choral theatre elements to Seasonal Programming, combining classical choral repertoire with narrative enhanced by theatrical production values of lighting, costuming and movement
2020 (January)– Introduced the first weekly group study in rhythmic training and sight-singing to raise the ensemble’s overall musicality to a higher standard
2020 (September) – Introduced ‘Choir School’ in response to Covid-19 pandemic. Instruction is offered at three skill levels, both in-person and virtually. Choristers study Rhythms, Intervals/Sight-Singing and Musicianship.

Mississauga Chamber Singers' Artistic Director, Mervin Fick, is dedicated to singers’ development and has inspired the choristers to strive to achieve higher levels of choral excellence. His rehearsal techniques allow choristers to work in a safe, inclusive learning environment. Informative and instructional rehearsals include integrated theory, history, vocal and period performance techniques. Mervin, in partnership with professional section leads, encourages discussion, offering solutions and strategies on vocal and ensemble development and musical interpretation.
Additional Info for Choristers
We are an auditioned chamber choir, performing a wide variety of choral music, with an emphasis on classical repertoire. We meet Tuesday evenings, 7:15-10:00pm at St. Andrew’s Memorial Presbyterian Church, 24 Stavebank Road North, Mississauga, beginning the first Tuesday after Labour Day, and continuing through to the end of May.
