Celebrating it's 40th season in 2022-2023, Masterworks Choral Ensemble is an adult Southwest Washington chorus dedicated to performance, community service, music education, and leadership in the arts.
Our History
Masterworks was founded in 1981, in Olympia, WA.
Since inception, MCE has:
Performed over 700 works by classical and popular composers
Performed the choral masterworks of 57 composers
Performed diverse musical styles from Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, and Romantic, to popular styles like Broadway and Hollywood musicals, big band, doo-wop, and swing, as well as explorations into ethnic African, Jewish and Latin American music
Commissioned four new choral works
Performed with over 200 choir members (cumulatively)
Performed with orchestra 23 times
Performed with 51 vocal soloists
Performed with 36 guest groups/performers
Collaborated with 16 other arts groups
Performed with over 125 children from 10 local schools
Performed and rehearsed with 14 accompanists
Performed in 11 venues
Performed numerous times for Governors Locke and Gardner at the Governor’s Mansion
Given the Salute to the Arts award to 20+ prominent contributors to the Arts in our region
Provided choral clinics for the community with Paul Hill, SoVoSó, and m-pact
We are currently auditioning for voices in the alto, tenor and bass sections. To audition for Masterworks, visit mce.org/auditions and complete an audition form.
Typically, MCE has four one-night performances in October, December, April and June. MCE also hosts the Northwest’s Regional Harmony Sweepstakes contest in March.
All events are held at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Olympia. MCE concerts start at 7:30 pm.

The mission is to perform sacred and secular choral, orchestral, and new commissioned works; to collaborate with other arts groups; to participate in community service activities; and to provide a leadership in developing, sponsoring, and broadening the vocal arts.
