Join us on Monday nights with So Noted! All experienced voice parts are welcome, although to maintain balance we may need to waitlist women’s voice parts.
Two trial rehearsals allow you to come and try us on for size. This choir will feature focused rehearsals, performances, rehearsal recordings, possible tours, unique opportunities from solos to small groups and widely varied choral material.
Rehearsals take place at St. Albert Catholic High School located at 33 Malmo Avenue, St. Albert.
Our History
So Noted Singers has had an impressively productive and prolific year! Rehearsals started in September 2023 under the leadership of local choral conductor Criselda Mierau. Under her leadership we've grown to a community of singers. Pop-Up choirs abounded with a ABBA night, Hallelujah Chorus, Irish Night ending with Les Mis. We've also presented a fall debut of Hammett Hawk, A Christmas Pizza Party, All You Need is Love Valentine's Show, When Irish Eyes Are Smiling Irish night and then a concert singing a few of Les Miserable songs.
So Noted Singers focuses on creating good sound, finding the phrase shape and producing blended vowels. They sing a wide variety of material and genres. This coming season, we will be starting a women's group, Cleopatra. We hope to offer Tuesday night rehearsals and a variety of performance, recording and touring opportunities.
So Noted will start working on The Amazing Race - Christmas Edition in September. Watch for their recording of a song coming out in time for the December show!
Pop-Up choir ideas abound! Bee Gees, Beatles, Barry Manilow, basic singing/breathing/choral techniques night, another Handel night, "make a mini recording" night, sing your way through a movie complete with movie clips night, etc etc etc.....yes, ideas abound! Our Mission
What drives us as human beings to want to do this? To work this hard together at something that is sometimes viewed as "just for fun" or "extra" to our "real" lives.
I put to you that what we do together as artists is quite simply life affirming. Our sense of community, connection and creativity is fed.
We work hard together towards a singular outcome. This means we must engage our ears, our feelings, our shared understandings and our collective imagination. We get to be a part of something bigger than ourselves.
The arts can help us understand history, culture and even our own lives. We are the vessels through which an audience can experience feelings more deeply. The arts are fundamental to our humanity.
When words fail, we as artists can give a look or arch an eyebrow or change our posture or our tone and inflection. When words fail, we can sing.
