We are the primary Male Voice Choir in Chelmsford, proudly wearing the crest of Chelmsford on our uniform. Variety is the hallmark of our concert performances and we have a wide repertoire of pieces. All gentlemen are welcome. Age and background are not important, nor is the ability to read music. Please see our website for more information. We look forward to welcoming you.
Our History
Chelmsford Male Voice Choir gave their first concert in the Corn Exchange, Chelmsford on Monday 26th November 1900. The profits were given to the Essex County Chronicle Shilling Fund for Essex Soldiers and their Dependents. In 1927 the choir was amalgamated into the Chelmsford Singers and no longer existed in its own right. However, a new choir was started in 1950 by a group of young men who felt the need for a choir in Chelmsford. The musical director was Bill Gane, who was eventually succeeded by his son Jack.
We are a group of like minded gentlemen who enjoy coming together to enjoy singing. There is a good rapport between us and rehearsals are full of fun. We enjoy performing to our friends and supporters and sharing the 'stage' with other choirs or groups. Come and give us a go.

Our Mission
In 2015 the Choir became a registered charity, the aims of which are to promote, improve, develop and maintain public education in the appreciation of the art and science of choral music in all its aspects. These aims are achieved primarily by performing concerts and raising worthwhile funds for good causes.
