The Belleville Choral Society (BCS) is a community choir whose purpose is to bring the joy of singing choral music to its members, its director and its audience.
BCS usually has 40 - 50 members...and is always needing more tenors and basses, like most choral groups.
Our rehearsal routine is as follows -
Monday rehearsals at St. Thomas Anglican Church from the first Monday after Labour Day until Christmas and then from the new year until the spring concert - usually in early May.
Each Monday, there is a sectional rehearsal at 6:15, ahead of the 7pm full choir start. This helps with moving more quickly from note-learning to musicality.
Rehearsals end at 9 pm and everyone pitches in to put the chairs away. Many hands make light work and the room is emptied before 9:15!
We perform two concerts per year. Since the restart after COVID, BCS is concentrating on secular choral music and there is lots to choose from....from Gordon Lightfoot to Michael Buble to Eric Whitacre and even Stompin' Tom Connors!
Besides concerts, we have sung Christmas carols for the public and performed at Belleville's PROBUS club meetings. We understand that not all choir members can participate due to other commitments.
Our focus is on having fun while creating beautiful sounds. It's a work in progress - if you are interested in helping us move to a CLASS A choir, please let us know. You can click here to fill in a registration form. Then we can notify you of start-up dates and times.
