About Our Choir
Big Soul Project is Ottawa's largest community choir, whose 150 members share songs of hope, love and peace to promote a sense of joy and empowerment. Our motto, "Lifting you Higher", applies to both choir members and audiences who feel lifted spiritually and emotionally by our fresh, upbeat brand of choral music with roots in R&B, Gospel, Soul, Rock and Motown.
Big Soul Project Community Choir (BSP) is one of Ottawa’s largest community choirs, whose 80+ members share songs of hope, love and peace to promote a sense of joy and empowerment. BSP fuses the vocal energy of a large choir with the smooth sound of its talented house band, Deep Groove.
Our History
Established in 1999, Big Soul Project is a community choir with the objective of bringing people together in song to promote a sense of connection and empowerment within its membership. In turn, we enliven the community at large through the gift of music. In keeping with its spirit of inclusiveness, there are no auditions. Members are from many walks of life, and range in age between 18 and 78.
Since then, BSP and the Deep Groove Band have had a wonderful time working together under Tahlia’s creative leadership to prepare and perform our songs, from the funky to the festive, to lift both our audiences and our community higher.
