Alexander Boostrom is the music director at St. John's Episcopal Church in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Having studied at both Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin and the University of Florida in Gainesville, Boostrom has a Bachelor's of Music in Piano Performance and a Master's of Music in Composition. Among his compositional passions, Boostrom is deeply interested in film scoring and has scored several silent film shorts for full orchestra. Two of his most recent compositions for orchestra were performed by the Gainesville Symphony Orchestra. Not limited to just orchestral writing, Boostrom has also arranged numerous pieces for his church choirs over the years and often writes music for small ensembles seeking new music to expand upon their repertoire. When not writing music or singing in/directing choirs, Boostrom performs both as accompanist and as performer on the piano and thoroughly enjoys collaborating with other musicians on new music.
