Why You Should Join
MacDowell has welcomed men who like to sing for over 90 years and has no desire to stop now. Continuation requires new talent and voices to be added to the group. That is where you come in. We need your talent, your voice, and your desire to entertain and please audiences. We need you to want to be part of the brotherhood and camaraderie that has accomplished all the aforementioned qualities across Wisconsin and several states over the past nine decades. If you can at minimum carry a tune with a large group of men, then you can be a MacDoweller!
Additional Info for Choristers
MacDowell begins the performing season on the last Monday in August with a picnic in Appleton, Wisconsin. Then, the Monday after Labor Day we begin weekly Monday Night rehearsals from 7 pm to 9 pm. After rehearsals, several of the men stop at a local establishment for a small afterglow.
There is a three-week break for the end-of-year holidays, then rehearsals continue until the formal concerts are held at the end of April and the first weekend of May. The season officially closes with a business meeting two Mondays after the final concert.
