Comprised of members with a wide range of ethnic backgrounds, ages and musical experience, Cumberland Oratorio Singers is a community chorus working on and performing great choral works.
Inspired by the joy of singing and hearing choral music, the Cumberland Oratorio Singers strive to be a premier symphonic chorus through the outstanding performance of choral masterworks. With a commitment to excellence and education for over 20 years, we work collaboratively with all singers to foster a vibrant, diverse, and interactive choral community, educate our singers and audiences, and extend our reach to the youth of Cumberland County and the Sandhills region.
Our History
The Cumberland Oratorio Singers is well into its third decade as the Sandhills Region's elite classical chorale society. The 23rd season saw the realization of the vision of the COS's leadership with the establishment of the Cross Creek Chorale [CCC], a select-voice ensemble from within the ranks of COS singers. This was only possible due to the growth, both in size and notoriety, of the Cumberland Oratorio Singers organization in recent years. Our commitment to providing opportunities for our local college and primary music students to experience world-class choral music with live orchestral accompaniment, both as guest performers as well as audience members, has been crucial in this growth process; ensuring future generations of musicians to continue the legacy of COS.
