About Our Choir
Our singers benefit from the experience of working and performing with other talented and local youth and our skilled professional staff. OYC is a wonderful blend of singers from different backgrounds who are enthusiastic about singing, learning, making new friends and the pursuit of excellence in choral performance. In June 2020 our advanced Cantabile singers have an opportunity to tour Philadelphia and New York City and perform in a National Youth Choir Festival at Carnegie Hall. Our past performance tours have included Ireland, England, Nashville, San Francisco, Hawaii and Seattle, and are made possible through the generosity of our sponsors and donors.
Our History
Established in 1995, the Olympia Youth Chorus includes school-aged singers, 5-18, in five individual choirs: Dolce, Bel Canto, Coro Voce, Forza, and Cantabile. Our members come from the greater Olympia area, including Tenino, Elma, Shelton, Chehalis, Centralia, Rochester, Yelm, and other areas. Our singers are from public, private, and home school settings. Our singers currently draw from over forty different schools in our region.
