A friendly community choir singing songs from around the world in glorious unaccompanied harmony. All the songs are taught by ear and there are no auditions.
Our History
We formed in 2005 with 60 members. Our first songs were Lean on Me by Bill Withers and Jambo from South Africa. We have learned many more songs since then, raised over £10,000 for charity, formed close friendship bonds and had a gala concert for our ten year anniversary in 2015 at the Colston Hall in Bristol.
You don't need to be able to read music, just listen and sing back. We learn the songs in short sections and build them up. Most of the men sing the bass part, some men sing tenor along with women with low voices. The other women's voice parts are alto (mid) and soprano (high, but not very high!). The main aim is to have fun - you join in when you feel confident and nobody worries if you sing the odd wrong note. We have cds or tracks on the internet to listen to in between rehearsals.
The fees and rehearsal times are on Wendy Sergeant's website www.wendysergeant.vpweb.co.uk
Our Mission
To bring together people of all ages and musical backgrounds to experience the thrill of joining their voices in harmony.
