The Somerset Hills Chorus is open to anyone aged 14 and upwards, with or without expertise. Members perform alongside seasoned professionals in venues within and around the community.
MISH was founded in 2010 by Artistic Director Stephen Sands, an experienced choir director, educator, and acclaimed tenor with the Grammy-nominated Choir of Trinity Wall Street.
MISH has three primary programs:
The Somerset Hills Chorus is open to anyone aged 14 and upwards, with or without expertise. Members perform alongside seasoned professionals in venues within and around the community.
The Concert Series brings accomplished professional musicians to perform with the Chorus in local venues. Performances have included the Vivaldi Gloria, Handel’s Semele and Messiah, a centenary concert of works by Benjamin Britten, a jazz concert of George Shearing works, the Fauré Requiem, Bach’s St. John Passion, Mozart’s Requiem, Handel’s Water Music performed on the water at The Lake Club in Far Hills, and Music of the Movies with Peter Dinklage.
Visiting performers have included The Choir of Trinity Wall Street, Frederica von Stade, The Westminster Bell Choir, Antioch Chamber Ensemble, and Chanticleer.
MISH has also hosting organ recitals, wind concerts, string quartets, carol sings, and vocal recitals.
Music Education. Includes an extensive Early Childhood Music Program, summer music camps for children and teens, and a Guitar Workshop for adults. MISH also offers scholarships to high school seniors who demonstrate musical excellence.
