About Our Choir
The Canadian Croatian Choral Society (CCCS) is comprised of fifty enthusiastic choristers drawn together by a love of Croatia's rich musical heritage. Our members range in age from twenty-nine to eighty and drive in from the Greater Toronto Area and the Niagara Peninsula for weekly practices.
Led by Artistic Director Mia Milicevic and supported by Accompanist & Music Arranger, Adam Mezgec, the CCCS was established in 2013 under the artistic direction of Edward Mavrinac. Choir members rehearse bi-weekly in person and virtually to learn new works, blend their voices to produce their uplifting sound and prepare for large annual Spring and Christmas concerts, smaller festival performances, special events and volunteer at sing-alongs at seniors’ residences across the GTA.
Our History
The choir is guided by the talented, enthusiastic hands of Artistic Director Mia Milicevic and Pianist, Accompanist & Music Arranger Adam Mezgec. Their team approach embraces new music technology and a combination of in-person and virtual rehearsing to produce the choir’s beautiful, uplifting sound that has captured the attention of enthusiastic audiences in Canada and Europe. We remain grateful to and inspired by director emeritus and founding artistic director, Edward Mavrinac, who helped establish the choir in 2013 and guided us with devotion for a decade.
Under Mia and Adam, we continue honouring our history and traditional Croatian roots while embracing the future by presenting traditional and contemporary choral music in dynamic, engaging performances for our valued patrons, sponsors and audiences.
