Founded in 1977 by Director Emeritus Richard Householder, the Chorale has become a core component of the local arts community by presenting its annual concert season and singing at a variety of other events throughout the Windsor area. The Chorale considers it a privilege to perform in this community and enjoys collaborating with other organizations including the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, the Canadian Chamber Choir, the Windsor-Essex Youth Choir, Walkerville Centre for the Creative Arts, as well as various solo artists. The Chorale has performed in a wide range of venues including Heritage Auditorium at the University of Windsor, All Saints’ Church, and on Pelee Island at the Stone & Sky Music & Art Series.
Each year, the Chorale hosts the Windsor Choral Festival, providing opportunities for musical growth and development to choral singers of all ages. Guest clinicians for this event bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our community and provide local singers with a fresh perspective on their musical interpretation, vocal technique, and overall performance.
We are teachers, librarians, administrators, lawyers and accountants. We are working professionals, busy parents, and retirees. Many of us grew up here and some of us come from far away places. What brings us together is our love for choral music and the belief that it expresses the deepest parts of our humanity. Furthermore, we believe in using music to connect with each other and with our community.
Our Mission
The Windsor Classic Chorale believes in honouring the tradition of choral music by singing it well, contributing to its growth and promoting it in our community.
We are eager to connect with you, our community, in new and interesting ways. We have sung for the Salvation Army Men’s Hostel in Windsor, provided holiday music for the Viewpointe Estate Winery Tractor Parade and caroled during the Walkerville Holiday Walk. We have provided music for various religious services and special ceremonies throughout Windsor. If you would like to suggest a way in which we can connect with you or your organization, we would love to hear from you.
