We kindle the light within and inspire courage to nurture the web of life and to create a just and compassionate world." Our community of spiritual seekers first came together in 1898. After more than half a century in downtown Ottawa, our congregation moved to our current location at 30 Cleary Avenue in 1967, where we've been ever since. Throughout the decades our commitment to our faith, our community at large, and each other has remained constant. Sunday Services are currently in person at 10:30 am or virtual on our YouTube channel First Unitarian Congregation of Ottawa - Official Posted hours are administration office hours. Contact the admin office for rentals, rites of passage, or other events at various other times.
Our History
Forte - Toronto Gay Men’s Chorus is one of Canada’s premier male choral ensembles with a membership proudly drawn from Toronto’s diverse LGTBQ+ community.
Read all about our history in the Forte 20th Anniversary Yearbook!
Created by our three founding members in 1997, Forte has evolved through a wide range of performance styles and repertoires; from show tunes and “choir-ogrpahy” to original and classical works. Today, our programming includes an exciting and challenging array of musical styles, presented in our annual Holiday and Pride-affiliated summer shows and our ongoing Unzipped cabaret series at Buddies in Bad Times. We’ve also appeared at a variety of beloved LGBTQ+ community events including the Candlelight AIDS Vigil, Pride and Remembrance Run, Toronto Pride Flag Raising Ceremony at City Hall, Inspire Awards, Orlando/Pulse Nightclub Memorial, The Imperial Court of Toronto Coronation and the Toronto Mr. Leatherman competition. (What can we say? We like to get around.)
