Recognised as the premier women’s choir in the Dorset area, La Nova Singers bring some of the most vibrant and exciting choral music to life in concerts across the South.
We perform an eclectic repertoire of classical, sacred, operatic and contemporary choral music. Our distinctive sound comes from our shared training in the ‘Bel Canto’ technique taught by musical director Michelle Nova.
Update for 2023: If you would be interested in joining La Nova Singers, and have previous singing experience, please get in contact with Michelle Nova in the first instance. We are potentially looking to recruit more alto and second soprano singers in 2024, for exciting events related to our 20th anniversary.
The current members of La Nova Singers are all students of Michelle Nova at her independent singing school, La Nova Studios, based in Bournemouth. If you are interested in joining the choir, a good first step is to visit www.lanovastudios.co.uk to find out more about Michelle’s teaching style. Lessons are fun but challenging, and are suitable for both beginners and more experienced singers. Once students have reached the required standard in Bel Canto technique, they are invited to join the choir. Usually this happens more quickly for singers with previous experience in choirs, of who have had lessons in a compatible style.
Our Mission
La Nova Singers is a chamber choir who perform classical, sacred, operatic and contemporary choral music, using the Bel Canto technique. They perform in concert across the South of England, at such venues as Highcliffe Castle, Christchurch Priory, and the National Trust’s Stourhead Gardens.
The fourteen singers are all individually trained by conductor and musical director Michelle Nova, and it is this shared training which gives them their distinctive, powerful sound.
