Reprise Choral Ensemble is a small (under 24 voices) SATB chorus that preforms in Central Maine, normally Augusta. Rehearsals are held in both Waterville and Augusta. We are always interested in new experienced singers, ages high school on up. We are mostly adults between the ages of 40 and 75. Reprise Choral Ensemble replaces a group we had from 1985 until 2006 called The Occasional Chorale. Reprise was formed in 2018 and delayed somewhat due to COVID. We are a 501(c)(3) recognized organization. Members pay dues on a per concert basis and scholarships are available. High School students are given scholarships automatically. Net proceeds of concerts are donated to other arts based organizations or individuals in the Central Maine region. Current members come from communities as far away as Lewiston, Rockland, Pittsfield, and Thorndike and many places in between.
Our History
Established in 2018 and incorporated in 2019 Reprise Choral Ensemble is a 501(c)(3) organization established to provide education in the form of choral performances. Our predecessor organization was The Occasional Chorale from 1985 until 2006. Reprise Choral Ensemble was established to provide small group quality choral performances in the central Maine area.
We perform a wide variety of choral music, frequently things that may be less performed. Concerts have themes, in the past we have done a concert called Side by Side featuring works that contained the same text set by different composers. Another was a Maine State Bicentennial concert featuring works by Maine composers or authors. Another is a Shakespeare themed concert doing all Shakespeare texts set by a wide variety of composers and having high school students recite verses as readings. Another planned concert is Planets, Stars, and Airs of Space, an out of this world experience.
We are always interested in hearing from singers who are experienced. All voice parts are available for consideration. We will limit our membership to no more than 24 singers, in a balanced mix.
Additional Info for Choristers
Rehearsals are normally Sunday afternoons from 3:30 to 5:30 in locations TBD in either Augusta or Waterville. Dues are payable on a per concert basis. All staff of the organization volunteer their time, dues cover expenses such as rehearsal space rental, performance space rental, music purchase or rental, and other incidentals. Currently dues are $50. The organization does some very limited additional fund raising to assist in covering expenses. Net proceeds of concerts are donated to other organizations to reflect our desire to support arts organizations in central Maine.
Our Mission
Our mission is to perform a variety of choral music, well. The joy is in making the music and providing entertainment for our audience. As a side benefit, we raise money for other artistic organizations in our area, not retaining revenues earned through gate receipts.
