We are now back in Metro Manila after spending a few days in Cebu to show our support to the University of the Visayas Chorale as they hold historical events meant to celebrate a most pivotal moment in their university’s history, the 100th year since its foundation in 1919.

Katrina Marie Saga, Tomas Umberto Virtucio Jr., Nil’s Emerson Flores, Joey Vargas, and our Choirmaster, Mark Anthony Carpio flew to Cebu earlier than the rest of the singers to give workshops given exclusively to the UV Chorale and to the various participating choristers to the Musikaalam Choral Festival and Workshop. Said speakers came home also learning so much more as they also continually gear to become active players in the development of choral practice in the archipelago.

Then, on the 17th, the Philippine Madrigal Singers felt very pleased to have witnessed and participated in the 1st Madz Et Al. Choral Festival in Cebu, in which five choirs — who underwent workshops for about 2-3 days — performed together with the Madz and the UV Chorale. The event served as a testament to the growing family that is the Madz Et Al. Family.

And on the 18th of August, we felt much affinity, affection, and admiration towards our siblings from the University of the Visayas Chorale as we shared the stage with them in a concert entitled “MADZSAULOG: Magsaulog sa Awit ug Panaghigalaay” held at the SM Seaside Cebu Centerstage.

For all these, and the overwhelming treatment we were accorded with, we would like to thank Dr. Jose “Dodong” R. Gullas, Executive Vice-President of the University of the Visayas and the UV Chorale Founder, and Mrs. Nena B. Gullas, UV Chorale Manager. We hope more blessings may come your way so you may continue to serve as blessings to the people you serve, and to everyone you come to deal with.

And, with much love, we congratulate the University of the Visayas Chorale led by our much-revered alumna, Ms. Anna Tabita Abeleda-Piquero!
