Description

Harpenden’s leading chamber choir continue their revelatory new series of one-hour choral discoveries concerts with Rachmaninov’s profoundly beautiful Liturgy of St John Chrysostom in the atmospheric setting of the Palladian Church of Ayot St Lawrence.

If you’re a first-timer, this concert will take you straight to the heart of Russian Orthodox choral music. If you’re a lover of Rachmaninov’s famous Vespers, then why not celebrate his 150th anniversary with this lesser-known masterpiece, inspired by his idol Tchaikovsky. And if you’re a fan of quirky English churches, then come and hear us sing in this temple to Apollo where George Bernard Shaw played the organ, and let the deeply moving music just wash over you.
