“For a Breath of Ecstasy”
Windward Choral Society’s 12th Annual Holiday Concert

Narrative:

‘Tis the season to sing! Come as you are and help us celebrate the season in song! “For a Breath of Ecstasy” will feature the 100 voices of the Windward Choral Society, Artistic Director Susan McCreary Duprey, Pianist Thomas Yee, Organist Jieun Newland, and other talented instrumentalists from around the island.

Two performances will be offered.

The first concert will take place in Honolulu at Nu‘uanu Congregational Church, 2651 Pali Highway, on Sunday, December 1, 2019, 4:00 PM. The second concert will take place in Kailua at St. John Vianney Church, 920 Keolu Drive, on Sunday, December 15, 2019, 4:00 PM. Both concerts are free and open to the public.

Featured choral works this season include composer Michael John Trotta’s For a Breath of Ecstasy with string quartet and oboe, and repertoire from Argentina, Canada, France, Japan, America (to include an early American Shaker tune and a piece in Hebrew), South Africa, and Hawaiʻi. To top it off, the audience will get to join in and sing along to a few familiar Christmas carols. Bring the entire family and enjoy this free community holiday event! Donations are appreciated.
