We will sing sections of Orlando di Lasso’s extraordinary Prophetiae Sibyllarum is regarded as one of the greatest works of the Renaissance. More conventional in tonality is his exquisite Scio enim quod redemptor.
Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, lauded for the purity of his compositional technique is represented by his majestic double-choir Magnificat.
The Missa pro defunctis by Spain’s leading composer Tomas Luis de Victoria is regarded as one of his finest achievements. We also explore the serene polyphony of his justly famous motet O magnum mysterium.
