King Edward Choir has Barrie's foremost community choir since 1952. We welcome singers of all experiences and backgrounds to join us in music-making.
Our History
King Edward Choir has a long and proud history in Barrie. Since its inception 56 years ago, as a Home and School Choir for parents and teachers of King Edward School in Allandale, the choir has gained the reputation as one of the finest choral groups north of Toronto.
Under the direction of founder, Jean Dobson, later conducted by Morley Calvert and Charles Woodrow, and for 25 years with Barbara McCann. After Barb's retirement in May of 2012, Floydd Ricketts became the Artistic Director of the King Edward Choir. We will continue the ongoing tradition of performing the music of the masters: classical, folk, and contemporary.
Under the baton of its skilled conductors, over 500 choristers have benefited from membership in the choir.
